Kostilata’s Springs

Kostilata’s Springs are located in the imposing Athamanian Mountains, the wildest mountain ridges of Pindos Mountain Range. It is noteworthy that in the area there are more 300 water springs.
Each drop of Kostilata’s natural mineral water starts is journey as a snow flake or rain drop, from the peaks of the Athamanian mountains, it follows an underground route, it runs through the natures rocky filters and it gushes in its spring at an altitude of 1450m, where the bottling takes place in the most sophisticated production line.
This procedure ensures water’s quality and maintains its clarity and pureness totally unaffected by any human intervention as it is constantly protected by a fortress of geological layers which are further reinforced by the winter’s ice. Thus Kostilata’s water is literally a raw diamond, a gift of nature that you can enjoy every day. It is fully protected by any pollution danger due to its underground origin and the prohibition of any polluting activities in the springs area

Quality characteristics

Without undergoing any disinfection procedure or chemical treatment, the water acquires slowly its perfect chemical balance in minerals and pH offering this ultimately gentle and refreshing taste.
The exceptionally low content in both sodium (Na+: 1,1 mg/l) and magnesium (Mg++: 2,0 mg/l), makes it suitable for people who follow a diet low in sodium and is recommended for people who suffer from chronic heart disease. In addition, magnesium contributes to a better functioning of the heart, muscles, nerves and has laxative and diuretic properties.
The rich content in calcium (Ca+: 36,7 mg/l) obtained from the stones (limestone, dolomite) through which water passes, helps blood pressure regulation, bones and teeth development, and it is necessary for the proper muscular function. Its extremely low total hardness (CaCo3-: 95,7mg/l) makes it tasty, soft, light for each consumer.

Quality assurance

Our specialized staff collects water samples in a daily basis and conducts analyzes in a fully equipped laboratory inside the plant, to ensure the water’s top quality. Its perfect microbiological composition and official chemical analyzes confirm its low content of nitrates and dissolved salts and its extremely low total hardness, placing it in among the most oligomineral waters in Europe.

Superior Taste Award

In 2016 Kostilata’s mineral water received for a second time a Superior Taste Award, with a qualification of Three Golden Stars. The prize awarded by the International Taste and Quality Institute in Bruxelles, the most sophisticated committee in the world which certifies and promotes fine quality products.
